A Delight of France
126 W Grand Ave
Escondido, CA 92025
An exhibit at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido propelled us to visit a coffee spot in downtown Escondido. A Delight of France is a delight. Truly. Their bakery items are made by them daily. Don’t miss out on the pan au chocolate and they offer a gluten free option of opera cake. They serve Cafe Moto, from a San Diego roaster, which is always popular. The outside seating was welcoming, but we visited on a hot day so air conditioning won us over. The lively colored walls capture the colors of Provence with Provencal tablecloths adding just the right touch. Take a few moments to enjoy their interesting paintings.
The California Center for the Arts in Escondido is currently exhibiting Writing With Pictures and features illustrations from Helen’s book, Paper Son: Lee’s Journey to America. It closes September 13, but make a plan to visit this lovely exhibit of children’s book illustrations. You’ll come away with a deeper appreciation of the excellence behind the illustrations in a children’s book.
